Nothing beats rewarding yourself after a hard workout with an icy IPA or a perfect red blend. So it’s no surprise that San Diegans are stoked on the latest fitness fad — sweat sessions that include post-workout beer (or wine) samplings. And well, we can’t think of a better duo either. Go ahead and amp up your social (and sweat) life with these fitness and booze pairings around San Diego.
Yogis of all levels can round out their 75-minute flow session with a beer flight at Hoppy Yoga’s weekly yoga classes that take place in breweries across San Diego county. Every Saturday and Sunday you’ll find their crew of awesome instructors leading classes at any one of their local craft brewery partners, including Saint Archer Brewing, Viewpoint Brewing, Culture Brewing, and Green Flash. Fitt Tip: Hoppy Yoga offers class packages, so you can save a little before you hit your sun salutations.
Vino & Vinyasa
The best way to drink wine is definitely in yoga pants. And the Wine Pub in Point Loma has us covered. They offer yoga on their sunny patio, followed by a complimentary glass of wine (or beer) after class. Can you think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon? We didn’t think so.
Hops & Salutations Yoga
Sip on an award-winning Hop-Fu IPA after nailing a half-moon pose at North Park Beer Company’s Sunday Hops & Salutations Yoga class. Join your fellow yogis for a refreshing yoga flow followed by beers and brunch at the North Park hot spot. For you flexible folks, all full pours are $1 off.
Elevation Culture Trail Runs
Nothing tastes as good as a cold brew after a tough trail run. Elevation Culture in San Diego gets it. Every Thursday at 6pm, trail runners depart from Elevation Culture in Bay Ho for a pre-weekend adventure, followed by post-run beers at Bitter Brothers. We consider this a winning combo.
Pilates and Pints
Fit in a sweat sesh at Barrel Republic in Pacific Beach every third Saturday of the month at Pilates and Pints. The class is free, mats are provided, and the taps are flowing. Trust us — after the killer core workout, a beer never tasted so good. We’ll meet you on the mat!
Tap Into Yoga
We believe in balance at Fitt, and Tap Into Yoga in Poway helps you achieve just that. Every Sunday, Green Flash Cellar 3 hosts Tap Into Yoga, an all-levels class hosted by local Mello Yoga that’s followed by beer tastings. Make sure you keep your eye on their events page: Tap Into Yoga offers live music on occasion!
Poses, Pretzels & Pints
Yoga and beer sounds like a pretty sweet deal, but how about yoga, beer, AND soft pretzels? Count us in. Join instructor Jen from Santosha Yoga and Wellness on the second and fourth Saturday of each month for Poses, Pretzels, & Pints at California Tap Room in North Park. The all-levels yoga class is followed by your choice of pretzel or craft beer. Don’t worry — we won’t tell if you get both!
Sip & Savasana
Flow among the city lights with Kimpton Solamar Hotel’s Sip & Savasana. This yoga class is hosted on the rooftop of the downtown hotel overlooking our scenic city. But the perks don’t stop there. Yogis are offered drink and app specials all night. This is our kind of happy hour.
Mikkeller Running Club
Marathon training got a whole lot better with Mikkeller Running Club (MRC). Just one of over 180 chapters of this run club, San Diego’s MRC meets at Mikkeller Brewing in Miramar on the first Saturday of each month for a run followed by a tasting room takeover with discounted beers. Now that’s the type of marathon training we can get behind.
Milestone Run Club
Getting through Hump Day can be rough, but North Park’s Milestone Running has our back. Every Wednesday at 6pm, runners meet up in front of the store for their choice of a 5k or 5-mile run. Following the adrenaline rush, Milestone offers an assortment of snacks and beverages at the store, and more often than not, runners head to a neighboring brewery.
Yoga After Dark
Namaste and play at Micro Meetup’s Yoga After Dark seasonal pop-ups. Hosted at Lot 8, Yoga After Dark combines a silent disco and a yoga flow led by instructors from Bird Rock Yoga. Each yogi gets their own set of headphones that are synced up with a live DJ to get you in the mood while you bend and stretch. After yoga, sip on kombucha and tea while shopping from local vendors. Okay, so booze isn’t exactly included after this sweat session, but who doesn’t love a Booch Garden?
